Aaron Breeze is an award-winning composer and pianist whose work spans an eclectic range of genres, from contemporary classical to theatre dance, from serious to quirky, humorous music. With a deep love for the unexpected,
A graduate of the Royal Northern College of Music (RNCM), Aaron studied composition under the tutelage of Professor David Horne and Dr. Larry Goves. Supported by The Countess of Munster Musical Trust and the Radcliffe Trust, he honed his craft through countless performances and collaborations. His piano skills were refined under the guidance of Ben Powell, and his talents as a composer earned him finalist spots in the prestigious RNCM Gold Medal concert in both 2016 and 2017. Aaron’s musical voice was further shaped by masterclasses with notable figures such as Brian Ferneyhough, Anders Hilborg, and Michael Finnissy.
Aaron’s compositions have been performed internationally and featured on BBC Radio 3, with highlights including his appearances as part of the ddmmyy concert series and as a composer-pianist on BBC’s Young Artist Day. In 2017, he took part in a groundbreaking collaboration with the legendary band New Order during the Manchester International Festival's '∑(No,12k,Lg,17Mif)' event, later touring with them to Vienna and Turin as part of the synth orchestra.
Beyond the concert hall, Aaron’s work has ventured into the realms of theatre, dance, and video game music. From 2019 to 2021, he served as arranger, audio mixer, and video editor for the Manchester Video Game Orchestra, earning recognition from esteemed video game composers like Stewart Copeland, Grant Kirkhope, and Jeff van Dyck.
In 2021-2022, Aaron was the ballet repetiteur at Landestheater Linz, composing original music for numerous dance productions in collaboration with Tanz Linz and choreographer Ashley Lobo. His work continued with the acclaimed 2022-2023 dance production Traumzeit at Landestheater Linz, receiving high praise from critics.
With a love for performance and an artistic vision that spans the goofy to the profound, Aaron's musical journey is a testament to his boundless creativity and skill. Whether composing for brass bands, ballet, orchestras, or even crafting zany, tongue-in-cheek piano performances, Aaron continues to push the boundaries of his craft with energy, humor, and heart.
Aaron is currently the musical director for Denton Brass Band, a ballet pianist for KS Dance, Sunday musician & accompanist for Cross Street Chapel.
